FYI, the links you've added have been removed. While the effort is certainly appreciated, the pages do not appear to warrant inclusion on every single country's article. What I might suggest is to instead use the pages as a resource, checking to see if there is useful information that can be used to reference existing text or supplement the article's content. Pleaser feel free to ask if you have questions about this, and thanks again. --Ckatzchatspy 20:02, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As Ckatz said immediately above, these links don't appear suitable for inclusion on every country article. There are most likely thousands of websites which accumulate useful links for each country, and it isn't appropriate for Wikipedia to link to such sites. Instead, please use the links to add useful and referenced material to the articles.-gadfium 18:51, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

FAO Country pages

[edit]

Can you explain what these pages are intended to do. They seem to include a link to an EarthTrend pdf (the ones I've looked at contain broken links) and a small list of news items. They do not seem to link to the considerable information the FAO actually holds about many of these countries, such as the comprehensive fisheries and aquaculture profiles. So I'm left wondering what purpose these new pages have, and whether perhaps they are yet to be properly implemented. --Epipelagic (talk) 18:16, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, fisheries is only a tiny part of what most countries are about, and hardly relevant at all to many. It is better for you to leave it alone and let the regular editors decide what should be linked. --Epipelagic (talk) 10:43, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you are keen to do something with FAO links, then do as gadfium suggested above. That is, instead of just adding FAO links to country articles, find some interesting and relevant information about a country that is contained in one of those links. Then add that information to the country article, and use the link as the reference. --Epipelagic (talk) 11:19, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
